In less than 24 hours, El Pasoans have raised over $14,700 to help out a local street vendor after he was harassed in the Cincinnati District over the weekend.

Over the weekend, a video on Fit Fam El Paso (not available) started to make the rounds showing that Raul, a local street vendor often spotted selling his roses and trinkets, get harassed by a patron in the area.

In support of Raul, local El Pasoan Veronica Rodriguez set up a GoFund Me account to raise $2500 to help him and his family out.

Rodriguez posted:

"This past weekend, Raul, a gift vendor who has been a mainstay of the El Paso nightlife scene, was harassed by an individual on Cinci. Raul has been a vendor in El Paso for over 10 years; he works long nights and shows up day after day to make money for his family and himself. Let’s show Raul how much the El Paso community cares about him by donating anything we can! With your donations, we can help alleviate some financial (and emotional) stressors his family may be facing. Once all funds have been collected, we will personally hand this all over to Raul."

And boy, did the El Paso community show up! In less than 24 hours, over 650 El Pasoans made donations ranging from $5, $10, $50, $100, and up to $300, raising just over $14,750.

Famous El Paso influencer Leslie Quezada aka LesDoMakeup, Chuco Relic, and even Fit Fam El Paso, along with hundreds of El Pasoans, have stepped up to help the cause.

Many El Pasoans also chimed in to share messages of support, saying:

While we’re glad to see that El Paso is taking care of its own, we must address the continued hate crimes that keep occurring against people of color.

As hate crimes are on the rise, it is more important than ever to speak up when you see someone being bullied or harassed and keep a watchful eye on each other.

The world is nuts right now; stay safe out there, and thank you to everyone who helped Raul and his family out; they undoubtedly are grateful for all the love.
