As much as I love to garden, keeping a yard in El Paso is a challenge. The blast furnace heat of summer can really wreck havoc on your plants, and making sure delicate plants have enough water can really trash your checkbook.

This weekend, you can get tips on how to garden in El Paso from actual master gardeners who know what to plant, when to plant it, and how to keep it going through the summer. The El Paso Master Gardeners Plant Sale & Gardening Workshop is this weekend, and it gives you the chance to learn more about gardening, ask questions of master gardeners, find out how to compost, prep your garden for planting, and how to grow succulents and ornamentals, or even container garden. The gardeners will also teach you about irrigation.

While you're there, you can buy ornamentals and succulents, and herb and vegetable seedlings like tomatoes, chili, basil and others, with prices starting at just $3. You'll need to bring your cash because they do not accept debit or credit cards. If you plan on buying a lot of plants, you should bring someone to help you carry and load them.
