El Paso Fourth of July 2021: Where to Watch Fireworks
Watching a good old-fashioned fireworks display is as American as the Fourth of July can get.
The uncertainty the pandemic created during the summer of 2020 resulted in the cancellation of most public fireworks shows, but this year it's a different story. Pretty much all of the annual shows El Pasoans traditionally flocked to pre-Covid will be lighting up the night sky in 2021.
Below is where you can get your red, white and boom on and commemorate our country’s Independence Day.
Ascarate Park
The Fourth of July is “Back with a Bang” at Ascarate Park. El Paso County is celebrating the holiday with food trucks, swimming, and an aerial display over the lake at approximately 9:20 p.m. You’ll find what you need to know if you plan to go HERE.
Wet ‘N Wild Water World
Wet 'N Wild Water World will light it up this Fourth of July. The park will open at 10 a.m. on Sunday for a full day of water rides and grilling with a fireworks finale not long after the park closes for the evening.
The fireworks spectacular will begin at around 9 p.m. and last 15 - 20 minutes. For more details, including the best place to watch, click HERE.
El Paso Locomotive
Just because the Chihuahuas aren't in town over the holiday this year doesn't mean there won't be fireworks at Southwest University Park. Locomotive FC is hosting their biggest rival, New Mexico United (boo!), on Saturday July 3 so there's going to be fireworks on the field and after. The Independence Day fireworks show pops off after the game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. so, fireworks approximately 9:15ish.
Western Playland Amusement Park
The homegrown amusement park in the neighboring city of Sunland Park, New Mexico will be cranking up all the rides you know and love like El Bandido and the Tsunami beginning at 5:30 p.m. with their 4th of July Annual Fireworks celebration set to go off at 9:30 p.m. You can find more information on its website.
Abundant Church 4th of July Celebration
“Food trucks, fireworks, and more” after the evening service at both the east and west side locations. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. with fireworks at approximately 9 p.m. East side, 1000 Valley Crest Dr; West side, 7100 N Desert Blvd. More info can be found HERE.
IDEA Schools Horizon Vista
IDEA Horizon Vista and the Horizon Police Department are teaming up for a free 4th of July family-friendly community event that includes a food truck roundup, activities and games for the kids, an outdoor movie screening of “Pets” and a fireworks display. The fun starts at 6 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30. You can find more details HERE.
Pop Goes the Fort
Fort Bliss MWR will mark the 10th anniversary of its Independence Day celebration at Biggs Park with a live performance from the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and fireworks show befitting of its anniversary celebration.
Unfortunately, because of military restrictions, this year's Pop Goes the Fort “will be open to DOD ID cardholders only." Cardholders can learn more HERE.
