El Paso Food Bank, Animal Services Set May Pet Food Distribution Date
El Pasoans struggling to put food on the table are able to count on El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank to help feed their families. But did you know EPFHFB is also there if you face the added challenge of keeping your house pet fed, too?
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger has been teaming up with El Paso Animal Services to offer free pet food assistance once a month. This month, the two charitable organizations will distribute dry dog and cat food on Thursday, May 13, at the main food bank location at 9541 Plaza Circle.
One-gallon size Ziploc bags will be handed out from 8 a.m. until the supply is gone. To ensure fairness and that the pet food on hand goes to the greatest number of people possible, the limit is one bag per dog or cat per family.
Volunteers Needed
If you have some free time and can assist with re-packaging pet food for the next pet food distribution, EPFHFB can use your help from 9 a.m. to noon every last Wednesday of the month. All available volunteer opportunities can be accessed HERE.
Masks Required
Masks for adults and children are mandatory for picking up food at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. Those not wearing masks properly (nose and mouth covered) will not be allowed on food bank property.
El Paso Animal Services Pet Food Pantry
If you’d like to contribute to their ongoing effort to help families in need feed their pets, the Pet Food Pantry accepts donations of pet food of all kinds. Contributions can be dropped off at the shelter’s front door, located at 5001 Fred Wilson, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or donations can be made via the El Paso Animal Services Amazon Wishlist.
May Primary Pantry Locations
The food bank is still serving over 100,000 people daily due to the pandemic and economic loss families are experiencing. There are a total of five Mega Pantry Drive-Thru sites manned by the EPFHFB COVID-19 Response Team throughout El Paso County to help meet the demand for food assistance.
