A ridiculous article posted by the equally ridiculous website, Judicial Watch, claimed that Isis has a training camp in Juarez.

Isis.

The terrorist organization that is running rampant all over Iraq and beheading people, including Americans.

Judicial Watch is a joke in every newsroom, but El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke had been getting worried questions from his constituents, so he decided to find out if we should be worried about Isis training terrorists across the border.

"Is Isis in Juárez?

Some have shared stories on social media suggesting that is the case. Others have contacted my office to see if it's true.

Today I reached out to the Mexican government, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Northern Command.

None of them have found any evidence, credible or otherwise, that Isis is in Juárez."

When the drug war first began heating up, all kinds of national media personalities showed up in El Paso and said hordes of armed and dangerous drug cartel gangs were moments from streaming over the border. Our own former Governor said car bombs were exploding in downtown El Paso. As you can see from the clipping above, El Pasoans were in danger of Libyan hit squads roaming the Borderland back in 1981.

The point is, the El Paso/Juarez area is an easy target for people who want to scare the crap out of us. No, we're not Manhattan, but we are one of the safest cities in which you can live.

Isis is scary enough as it is. We don't need to make them even scarier by worrying that they are massing across the border. They aren't in Juarez, and they're not in El Paso. Just because something is on the internet, it doesn't make it true. Unless it's about car insurance. Then, it's absolutely true.
