This afternoon's attack in Iraq has given me terrible flashbacks of how terrifying it is to be waiting to hear from a son or daughter after news of an attack.
Libyan hit squads. Al-Qaeda terrorists. Drug cartel gangs. If there is something scary happening in the world, chances are there are going to be rumors of them being in the Borderland. The latest cucuy to be sighted here? Isis.
For many of us, the toll of war is something we only think about on Memorial Day, or Veteran's Day, or when we hear about the death of a soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan. But, fallen soldiers aren't just names on a wall, or represented by statues in Washington, D.C. They are actual people, and a group of artists an ocean away, want to show us all what the toll of war really looks like.
Christmas may have come and gone but there is still magic to marvel at from this joyous holiday, like the magic that granted the wish of a little girl who only wanted her soldier father back for the holidays.
