This Easter Weekend All El Paso City/County Parks Are Off-Limits

You won’t have the city or county Parks and Recreation Department nagging you to clean-up after yourselves after celebrating Easter at one of the El Paso-area parks this year.

In effort to slow the spread of the pandemic and encourage social distancing, officials amended the emergency directive on April 1 and closed all parks (including playgrounds and trails) until further notice.

These new measures include all County parks and pertain to all unincorporated areas and the municipalities that lie inside El Paso County as well: Socorro, San Elizario, Clint, Vinton, Anthony, and Horizon City.

The directive also forbids private gatherings of any number of people anywhere. That includes your friend’s, neighbor’s, tia’s, grandmother’s, and, yes, even your house. In other words, if you don’t live there you shouldn’t be there.

I know, I know Easter has traditionally been a time of cooking out in a park or backyard with family and friends and letting the kids run wild looking for cascarones, but this hasn’t exactly been a typical year for any of us.

Don’t worry, Baby Jesus understands. It’s going to be all good El Paso, and when this is over, you and your loved ones can throw the biggest St. Patrick’s Easter de Mayo Birthday Graduation bash of July ever.
