Happy Holidays! The City of El Paso is proud to offer plenty of ways to make this holiday season fun, entertaining, and educational for the whole family.

Lights

The city’s premier holiday tradition, the Celebration of Lights continues at Cleveland Square Park in Downtown El Paso through Sunday, January 3, 2016.

El Paso Museum of Art

Also in the Downtown Arts District, at the El Paso Museum of Art Marc Chagall’s The Green Violinist is currently on exhibit as part of the Modern Masters Series, an ongoing partnership with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

El Paso Museum of History

This is the last opportunity to see Made in El Paso: The Traditions, Influence and Legacy of El Paso’s Cowboy Boots at the El Paso Museum of History. The exhibit is showcasing the work of El Paso’s boot artisans and runs through January 3. The museum will also have a free kid’s drop-in activity on Saturday, December 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. Children will be able to build their own community using recycled materials. The activity focuses on the current exhibit Drawing on the Past: El Paso During Artist Tom Lea’s Childhood, 1907-1924.

El Paso Museum of History

The El Paso Museum of Archaeology has free archery and Atl-Atl demonstrations every Saturday at 11 a.m. Museum staff and volunteers also provide free guided tours on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The trails around the museum will also be open for family hikes.

The museums will be open regular hours through the winter holidays with the following exceptions: the El Paso Museums of Art and History will be closing at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, and Thursday, December 31. All three museums will be closed on Friday, December 25, and Friday, January 1. Additionally, the Downtown Art and Farmer’s Market will not be held again until Saturday, January 9, 2016.

El Paso Library – Memorial Park Branch

Kwanzaa programs begin at the Memorial Park Library on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. Programs will be held at other branch locations through December 28th and are free and open to the public.
