The date has been set for one of El Paso’s most celebrated holiday traditions – the annual Downtown Christmas tree lighting ceremony and parade. This year’s 79th Celebration of Lights, hosted by evolve Federal Credit Union, will happen on Saturday, December 6.

Because construction of the newly designed San Jacinto Plaza is not yet complete, festivities will once again take place at Cleveland Square, across from the ballpark between the El Paso Museum of History and the El Paso Library.

After Mayor Oscar Leeser flips the switch to light up the Square, the annual lighted Christmas parade featuring floats and walking groups all tricked out in colorful lights, will wind through downtown. The night will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display shot off from atop the Mills Parking Garage.
