A video showing a sheriff deputy dragging a mentally ill woman into court by the shackles on her ankles has been released by officials.

The incident was caught on video and recorded by Bill Gelin, an attorney in the courthouse. The woman is seen being dragged by Deputy Christopher Johnson as the woman yelled and sobbed, pleading to let her go and that he was hurting her. The woman was due in court for allegedly trespassing and criminal mischief.

According to Florida Public Defender Howard Finkelstein, the deputy is on restrictive duty while the agency conducts an internal investigation into the matter.
