YISD Goes Online For The Rest Of The School Year

The coronavirus update has taken another toll on El Paso area students. The superintendent of Ysleta Independent School District, Dr. Xavier de la Torre, announced today that the district will not be reopening school campuses for the remainder of this school year.

de la Torre said that the decision by City and County health officials to extend the stay-at-home order to May 17 played a large part in deciding to not reopen the district's schools. The last day of instruction will be May 15 for students who are "making adequate progress." If your child is behind in their schoolwork or in a credit recovery program, their last day to complete work is Friday, May 22.

If your child is a senior in a YISD high school, they will have to return their YISD digital device, but all other students will be allowed to keep them throughout the summer.
