I've been to so many concerts in my life, it's hard to count every single one of them. But what I CAN say is that every time I've ever been to the County Coliseum, the Abraham Chavez Theater, or the Don Haskins Center, the bands that perform always sound great. The acoustics always sound good & the crowds... the crowds are phenomenal.

So why don't more bands do live albums here in El Paso? I can think of only 3 bands that HAVE recorded an official live album that have made it to on CD/DVD:

  • Nine Inch Nails: when they were here for their 2006 appearance, they recorded that whole show & even included that footage in their 2007 Beside You In Time Live album. You can see videos of that concert here.

  • even the King of Rock N Roll himself, Elvis Presley, recorded a live album that was called "El in El Paso" back in the 70s.

We've had some truly amazing bands come here (& still do) so why not record a live album here in El Paso? We already have existing videos of some truly memorable performances just within the last 20 years that can easily be turned into a live album. Like...

Or any time TSO have come into town.

If you've been to either show, the crowd participation & the sound quality of those concerts can easily be transformed into a live album.

But definitely the biggest reason, if more bands record live albums here, that could potentially bring either newer acts or returning acts to bring even bigger shows to El Paso. Bigger shows & bigger crowds mean bigger support for/from El Paso.

I'm happy to see so many concerts come to El Paso. But I hope more bands will see the potential of recording more shows in El Paso. Besides... how cool would it be to say that you're featured on an album?
