El Paso is starting to see progress in its fight against COVID-19; the positivity rate is down, and the number of new cases reported daily is fewer than it has been in months. But city and county official say now is not the time to start ignoring the mandates and guidelines that are still in place.

The virus is still very much in our community, and if we let our guard down now it could just as quickly come raging back. Which is why officials continue to encourage everyone to take advantage of the no-cost tests currently being offered, even if you don’t have any symptoms.

Not only does getting tested help expose hotspots and track outbreaks, but 1 in 4 carriers do not show symptoms of being positive and therefore unknowingly contribute to community spread.
