The City of El Paso is celebrating moms across our community with virtual events and a chance to score tickets to the El Paso Zoo.

Happy Mother’s Day – as the city continues to social isolate, the City of El Paso invites the public to show their love for all moms by participating in its virtual events.

The City is asking invites El Pasoans to share how they are helping to protect all the moms in their lives including grandmas, aunts, and cousins by uploading pictures or videos of their social distancing celebrations using hashtags #ProtectYourMom and #IAmElPaso on the City’s Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter pages. All participants will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a family 4-pack season pass to the El Paso Zoo.

The El Paso Zoo along with the El Paso Public Library is also celebrating mom with virtual events on their respective Facebook pages:

M.O.M - Missing Orangutan Mothers

The annual event raises awareness of how hundreds of orphaned baby orangutans are cared for in rescue centers in Sumatra and Borneo, and why they need help. The event will feature presentations by zookeepers from the Orangutan exhibit of the Asia section of the zoo. Visit the El Paso Zoo on Facebook Here

El Paso Public Library

The library is hosting cooking demos with “How to Make Calabasitas” followed by a Story Time session to honor all moms. Staff will read the book “Mother, You’re the Best” by Diane DeGroat. Visit the El Paso Zoo on Facebook Here
