Everyone knows that drinking and driving could cost you or someone else their life, but in Texas, driving while intoxicated could cost you life in prison.

According to reports, 44-year-old Rose Ann Davidson of San Marcos received a life sentence yesterday in a Hays County courtroom after being convicted of her sixth driving while intoxicated offense.

Court records indicate that Davidson, whose five previous convictions for DWI span a period of about 17-years, was arrested on Interstate 35 in July 2012 after an officer stopped her for erratic driving and then noticed an open container of beer in her car.

Prosecutors say that Davidson has spent time in prison before due to her inability to keep off the roads while intoxicated.

What do you think: Is life in prison a just sentence for this crime or does it seem excessive?
