Sometimes it's tough being a pet. You have to remember to lick your owners face so they wake up in the morning after they've ignored the alarm clock. You are responsible for barking your head off whenever a suspicious person walks by the house. And don't forget all the loving you have to give your owner when they come back from a hard day at the office.

Yup, it's tough out there for a pet. So take them to the Parks and Recreation Department Pet Fair this weekend at the Don Haskins Recreation Center at 7400 High Ridge Dr. The event is free and you'll get some great tips on pet care awareness, fashion, grooming, health care products, and pet demonstrations. If you're one of the first 200 pet owners through the doors, you can also be eligible for free microchipping courtesy of the Animal Services Department.

Let your pup run through the dog agility course, and even the kiddos will have some fun with a kids play area. The four hour event will also be hopping with live entertainment featuring dancers and singers.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, February 24. For more information on the Parks and Recreation Pet Fair, call (915) 212-0092 or visit elpasotexas.gov/parks.
