Learn about the night sky this Spring close to home. You can visit some events and see some amazing stars and planets, between Deming and Silver City; and two at Rockhound State Park, near Deming. Here is a list of scheduled star gazes.

Saturday, April 2

Location: Rockhound State Park

Time: 8:35 p.m. to 10:05 p.m.

The view: Jupiter is visible at start of star gaze and the spring constellations are prominent in the east as the winter constellations set in the west.

Saturday, May 7

Location: City of Rocks State Park

Time: 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The view: Jupiter is on the meridian at the time of start and winter constellations are setting in the west. Planets Mars and Saturn rise at program’s end.

Saturday, June 6

Location: City of Rocks State Park

Time: 9:20 p.m. to 10:50 p.m.

The view: Mars and Saturn are visible at the time of the program, and Jupiter is past the meridian. The Summer Milky Way is above the horizon by the end of the time the star gaze started.
