I don't know who needs to hear this, but, wash your hands! Washing your hands is one of the best ways to cut down on the spread of germs and viruses. With flu season and the growing concern of coronavirus it's very important to develop a healthy hand washing routine! According to the CDC, there is a science to washing your hands. The rules go as follows:

1.Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap and apply soap.
2.Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
3.Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.
*Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice*
4.Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5.Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

The "Happy Birthday" song is perfect for timing yourself, you know the words and it's a delight to hum or sing aloud to yourself. But what if you're tired of that song? Twitter has some great recommendations for songs to sing while you wash your hands!

Journalist Jen Monnier shared some great songs with choruses that will last you 20 seconds, songs that you probably love like Beyonce's "Love on Top," Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide," Prince's "Raspberry Beret," Dolly Parton's "Jolene," Africa's "Toto" and Lizzo's "Truth Hurts."

Twitter User Nicky Ryan also has some great recommendations:

If you're a millennial like me, then for sure you'll know and want to sing along to these songs:

This one is very specific and helpful:

If you're a lover of "The Office" then you already know what song to use for CPR, but it can also be used for washing your hands!

Really, you can do whichever song you'd like, just make sure it's up to 20 seconds and that you're using soap. Also, I would like to add that you should consider washing your hands even when there's not a global virus panic, just saying.
