Spanish singer Shaila Dúrcal announces a surprise performance in El Paso tomorrow, Thursday, May 20, 2021.

Shaila Dúrcal is the daughter of famed Spanish singer Rocio Dúrcal who was wildly successful in Mexico, earning the title of Reina de las Rancheras or Queen of Ranchera music.

Rocio Dúrcal, who was once upon a time a close friend and collaborator to Juan Gabriel, won over the Latin community with one of her most famous songs, Amor Eterno (Eternal Love), which Juan Gabriel wrote. Amor Eterno has become an iconic tune for many Latinos as one of the most played tunes at funerals or when honoring the memory of a past loved one.

Dúrcal and Gabriel shared years of friendship and worked together on many collaborations, which included ten albums.  One album, in particular, Canta A Juan Gabriel Volumen 6 (1984), is among the top ten best-selling albums in the history of Mexico and even won Dúrcal a Grammy that year.

Sadly, a rift between Rocio Dúrcal and Juan Gabriel ended their decades-old friendship. However, years later, after her death, Juan Gabriel befriended her daughter Shaila Dúrcal and the two even performed together on stage many times.

Shaila Dúrcal has become a notable singer in her own right, making her singing debut at the age of 12 and has since gone onto record six albums, including Recordando, an album dedicated to her mother, which went straight to number one in Spain, going platinum in its second week after selling over 80K singles.

Shaila Dúrcal was set to perform alongside Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano at Inn of the Mountain Gods on Sunday, May 23, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it was canceled.

Instead, Shaila Dúrcal and her Mariachi announced a surprise performance set for this Thursday, May 20, in El Paso, TX.

Tickets:

Shaila Durcal's performance promises to be full of new and familiar songs, including those honoring her mother, Rocio Dúrcal. Without a doubt, she will most likely perform Amor Eterno, and there probably won't be a dry eye in the room after that, so pack some tissues.
