Henry Thang: A Journey of Resilience, Renewal, and Music

Born in the small rural town of Hakha, Myanmar (Burma), Henry Thang's life has been a testament to resilience. After seeking refuge in the U.S. in 2008 to escape the harsh realities of military dictatorship, Henry faced the challenges of adjusting to life in a new country while learning a new language. Music became his lifeline, helping him navigate through the struggles of displacement and the emotional toll of leaving his homeland.

Though music was his passion, pursuing it was financially impossible for years. Henry was forced to set aside his dreams for over a decade, but his love for music never wavered. His life took a pivotal turn in 2019 when he was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a condition that paralyzed his face and left him unable to speak, eat, or sing. It was a harrowing time, but it reminded him of the importance of chasing his dreams while he still could.

After a slow recovery, Henry reignited his music career, finding new purpose and passion in his art. This personal rebirth has fueled his ongoing journey as an independent artist. Henry’s newest album, Heartfelt, is a reflection of his life's challenges and triumphs, showcasing his ability to connect deeply with his audience through raw emotion and soulful melodies. The album, set to release at midnight on Friday, October 11th, coincides with his performance at Grizz Presents, and the event also doubles as his birthday celebration. With powerful vocals and a blend of pop and R&B, Henry’s songs reflect his resilience, and his performance promises to be both a personal and musical milestone.
