Screaming at the Sky Parties Happening Today, Marking the 2016 Election Anniversary
We don't need a moment of silence, we need to scream our heads off at the madness that has been happening.
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the 2016 election. The political world has changed so much within this year. Whether you have been happy or disturbed by what is going on, I think we can all come together today to have a good therapeutic scream.
I am not joking when I say a therapeutic scream. According to Mic.com and Thomas Plante, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Santa Clara University, the phenomenon of screaming to relieve stress likely has its roots in a psychology trend from the 1970s called “primal therapy,” in which patients were encouraged to scream and act violently to release inner turmoil.
The first of these type of events that popped up on my timeline, focused on screaming out frustrations from our government. Some screaming parties have now been created to scream in a group to praise the administration.
I couldn't find a screaming party here in El Paso, but you can always have a party of one, or create a group by the end of the day. Either way, this event may seem silly but screaming in a group has never seemed more normal.
