San Elizario High Wins Second 4A Soccer Title in 4 Years
Cue We are the Champions.
The San Eli boys soccer team did it again. Thanks to a shutout by goalkeeper Steve Salais and a spectacular 20-yard goal by eventual game MVP Martin Rodriguez, the Eagles defeated Palestine 1-0 on Friday (4/20) to earn the 4A State Championship title for the second time in 4 years.

Making the win an even bigger accomplishment was the fact that their opponent had a record of 35-0 coming in to the game. Not only that, but San Eli had been on and off the road traveling in buses and living out of a suitcase for three weeks, which makes their win that much more impressive.
The state champs returned on Saturday (4/21) to a homecoming that included a sheriff escort and a silly string shower. Way to go guys. You da man(s)!
