For over 50 years, summer in El Paso has meant the El Paso Police Department's Safety Town. It is a week long class for kids ages five and six years old.

Officers with the El Paso Police Department and youth volunteers will conduct the classes, you can register you kids at Bassett Place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Mall Office. You can also log on to shopbassettplace.com/event/safety-town to print out an application. You will have to submit the applications in person along with proof of your child's age by presenting a birth certificate.

You can enroll your five or six-year-old in this year's Safety Town for free. The little ones will learn all about safety with the help of local organizations such as the El Paso Police Department, the El Paso Fire Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the El Paso Electric Company, the Ysleta Independent School District, El Paso Animal Services, and the Drowning Prevention Coalition of El Paso.

Classes begin June 10 so you need to register your kids as soon as possible inside the mall office because spots fill up really quickly! You can check out the class schedules at Bassett Place's website by clicking the link above. You child will get a free t-shirt and a free helmet that they can use when they ride their bicycles.

If your kids miss out on the June classes, they can take part in the July classes. You can register for those classes later in June.
