The Peak Fitness Challenge will take place on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Franklin Mountains State Park.
For all you fitness gurus out there the Peak Fitness Challenge is pretty difficult and is not for just anyone.The North Franklin Peak is the highest peak at the Franklin Mountains State Park rising at 7,192 feet in elevation; with over 2,000 feet in elevation gain from the trail-head to the top, so you’re sure to get an incredible workout on this challenge.
Trail Difficulty: Strenuous/Difficult
Begin with a gradual incline over rubble, which may be challenging for some; then transition to a steady climb over loose rubble/rocks. Continue to meander across the ridgeline to the highest peak in the park, North Franklin Peak.
Participants of the Peak Fitness Challenge will find an unbelievable 360 perspective of our region at the top with views of Mexico, the City of El Paso, and New Mexico.
Everyone who is interested in participating will meet at the Tom Mays Unit – West Cottonwood Springs trail-head.
What to Bring: Water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes/boots, flashlight/headlamp for darkness in the morning, hiking stick, camera, binoculars, a map and dogs are welcome on leashes.
