Payless Closes 4 El Paso Locations

Days after filing for bankruptcy, Payless Shoe Source announced today (April 4) it has closed nearly 400 stores nationwide effective immediately, including four in El Paso .

The four "under performing" El Paso locations you'll no longer be able to bogo at, according to the Payless website, are:

• Cielo Vista Mall
• Sunland Park Mall
• 119 S. Stanton and Overland (Downtown)
• 1900 N. Lee Trevino and Montwood (by Hanks High School)

The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to keep its creditors at bay while it reorganizes in federal court.  It's important to note the company is not going out of business.

There are still twelve Payless locations around El Paso that remain open.
