Ten EPISD schools near the Border Highway will have early release on the day before Pope Francis visits Juarez and a late start the day after.

District officials say the school day for students from the ten campuses listed below will end at 2 p.m. on Feb. 16 and start at 10 a.m. on Feb. 18. The decision is based on plans by federal, state and local authorities as well as proposed road closures that could directly affect students and employees.

To make up for the instructional time lost, the impacted campuses will add three minutes to the end of the school day beginning February 1st until the end of the school year on June 7th.

All EPISD schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 17 amid safety, security, and absenteeism concerns related to the papal visit. The district will use President’s Day, February 15, as a makeup day.
