There are only have two more months of Daylight Saving Time. We fall back an hour on November 3. Once Daylight Saving Time ends, we'll be dealing with the sun going down at what seems like an hour after lunch. Before we all start hibernating for the winter, here's a few things you can do to take advantage of the next couple of months of afternoon sunshine:

1. Go for a walk - There are a lot of different places around town that you can go for an afternoon walk. I love to go to Ascarate to walk around the lake. It is so pretty and it's hard to believe that we have such a nice lake in the middle of the desert. If you go, just don't feed the ducks bread. It's not good for them. Just admire them as you get some exercise.

2. Do a little day drinking - Well, do a little drinking on your back porch while there is still a little sun left after you get home from work. Before you know it, you'll be coming home to a dark house and only want to cocoon on the couch and binge-watch your favorite show.

3. Take a day trip - You can get out of town and check out the caves at Carlsbad Caverns, head up to Ruidoso for the day to get out of the heat, check out the Space Museum in Alamogordo, or just drive for a few hours and then head back to town. You'll still have the chance to get back during daylight hours so you won't have to drive back in the dark.

4. Soak up the sun - When we fall back an hour, you'll be sorry you wasted the light, so just grab a blanket and head out to any sunny spot and soak up that late summer/early fall sunlight before it's gone.
