Outraged Mother Claims Racism After Sesame Place Character Ignored, Passed Over Her Two Daughters

An upset mother is making claims of racism and calling out Sesame Park after she says her two Black daughters were ignored by a Rosita character.

Identified as Jodi on Instagram, the mother alleges that her two daughters were passed over by Rosita and even told "no" as they reached to touch the character as it passed by during a parade in the Sesame Place theme park.

The mom posted a video claiming that the Rosita character high-fived other white parents and children before shunning her girls, then continued walking in the parade and high-fiving another white child shortly after.

I’m going to keep posting this, because this had me hot. We were on our way out of sesame place and the kids wanted to stop to see the characters. THIS DISGUSTING person blatantly told our kids NO then proceeded to hug the little white girl next to us!

She shared her frustrations along with the clip on Instagram, warning her followers of what she believed to be racist behavior from the character and the Sesame Place theme park located in Philadelphia.

In the clip, you can see the Rosita character walking in the Sesame Place parade while engaging with families who are lined up along the route.

As the mom stated in her Instagram caption, Rosita does high five the kids and the woman who are lined up right next to their family as her daughters wait with outstretched arms.

While it's impossible to tell where the person inside the suit is actually looking, the character's eyes appear to look at the young girls as they reach out toward Rosita.

At that point, a "no" type hand gesture is seen from the Rosita character as it continues along the route, apparently high-fiving and engaging with other families according to the mother's claims.

The little girls seem to be visibly confused and let down after being passed over by the Rosita character—whether it was on purpose or not.

Jodi says she spoke with park management about the incident, showing them the video below to back up her claims of racism. According to the mother, they just looked at her like she was "crazy."

I asked the lady who the character was and I wanted to see a supervisor and she told me SHE DIDNT KNOW !! I will never step foot in @sesameplace ever again ! And please feel free to repost this. Actually run me my money back so mad I stopped the video but it got me so mad when he blatantly told them no

Almost instantly, Sesame Place recieved backlash for the incident as the video made its rounds on social media.

Even those who didn't necessarily think race was a factor were still outraged that the little girls were so blatantly ignored.

The clip caught the attention of celebrities as well—including Kelly Rowland who demanded an explanation from the theme park over the viral video.

Eventually, the theme park would issue an apology on their social media, explaining the scene that we saw unfold in the viral video.

Based on the reactions, it's hard to tell if their statement helped the situation or just made it worse.

As far as how the upset mother is taking the "apology," she left this message on her Instagram story after receiving an overwhelming amount of support from others who were saddened by the events that unfolded for those two little girls at Sesame Park.

There are many who agree that the damage is already done and no free passes or public apologies will change what happened.
