More Lane Closures Coming for Mesa St. And Carolina Dr. Due to Construction

Starting Monday, August 24, 2015, lane closures on Mesa St. and Carolina Dr. will be implemented due to construction projects.   

The City of El Paso will close one lane of vehicle to traffic on Mesa St. and another on Carolina Drive in order to complete two construction projects.

Mesa Street Closure:

One northbound lane of Mesa St. near Argonaut will be closed to traffic beginning the week of August 24, 2015. The closure will last until late September 2015. It is necessary in order to construct a sidewalk in the area as part of a comprehensive project to enhance connectivity for pedestrians and users of Sun Metro’s Brio.

Carolina Drive Closure:

Crews have closed a lane of traffic on Carolina Drive near Alameda Avenue until the end of this month. Motorists may encounter other lane closures in the area as well. The closure is necessary to complete the utility relocation work that must be finalized prior to the start of the Carolina Bridge Reconstruction project, which is scheduled to begin in 2016.

While no routes will be detoured, Sun Metro may experience delays in these areas.

These construction projects are part of the City of El Paso’s commitment to maintain and enhance El Paso’s regional transportation system.
