‘Mija, Yes You Can’ Spreads Holiday Cheer For Residents at Aliviane Recovery Center
My favorite part of the holiday season is when local businesses or organizations give back to those in need.
Local nonprofit organization, Mija, yes you can, decided to continue their annual holiday drive with the Aliviane recovery center, making it the second year in a row that they partnered with the local recovery center.
Aliviane Recovery Center is a local haven for those battling alcohol or drug abuse and mental health issues. Deciding to work with Aliviane for another year was an easy decision for the organization.
“This is our third annual holiday drive but it is our second year partnering with Aliviane. Recovery is not easy and we are here to remind the residents that they are not forgotten and that Christmas is not just for the little ones, it’s for them as well.”
Thanks to an outpouring of generosity from local businesses, organizations, and caring individuals, Mija, Yes You Can brought the joy of the season to over 50 residents, both men, and women, and even extended the holiday spirit to their children.
The annual holiday drive wasn't just about gifts. Mija, Yes You Can threw a holiday bash for the Aliviane residents, featuring a mouthwatering spread of tamales, eggnog, music, and pan dulce, creating memories that will last a lifetime, especially for resident Blanca Rodriguez:
““ ‘Mija, Yes you can’ showing up makes us feel like we’re not forgotten because when we come here to Aliviane we feel alone, but with time we feel not forgotten and the food and everything is great.”
In a world that sometimes feels chaotic, this local nonprofit proves that the true spirit of the season lies in community, kindness, and the simple joy of giving.
