Man Stabbed at Whiskey Dick’s in Las Cruces – Suspect Charged and Victim Remains in El Paso Hospital
The Las Cruces police department were dispatched 30 minutes after midnight to the Whiskey Dick's in Las Cruces with reports of a man being stabbed in the parking lot.
When police arrived they identified a 27-year-old man in the parking lot suffering from four stab wounds to his torso. The man was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso in critical condition. His condition has been raised to stable condition as of Monday morning.
Gary Samuel Peru, 24, of Silver City, New Mexico is now being charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. The victim was leaving the establishment when he and Peru got into an altercation in the parking lot. Security had removed Peru from the nightclub but he remained in the parking lot until the victim left.
When police arrived to the scene Peru had left the scene and was later found at the Ramada Hotel on University an hour later where police entered his room and took him into custody. He was booked into Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash only bond.
