West El Paso diners rejoice as the comfort food restaurant Luby’s is back up and running on North Mesa St.

Back in March, the cafeteria chain Luby’s in El Paso suspended operations due to the coronavirus pandemic. In late June it reopened its Hawkins location while it's other two El Paso locations on North Mesa and Chelsea Street remained closed, until now.

Luby’s on North Mesa St. has reopened its doors and is serving up fan-favorite comfort meals to West El Pasoans.

At this time, Luby’s central El Paso location off Chelsea has closed as the Texas cafeteria chain has been struggling financially even before the pandemic. While Luby’s restaurants continue to operate across the state, the company intends to sell the restaurant and all its assets once a buyer is found.

Until then, load up on some fried chicken, mashed potatoes, some rich and creamy mac n cheese, chicken fried steak, carrot cake, or even the ever-popular combination Lu Ann Platter.
