When I lived in Nebraska I used to do a lot of stupid stuff, especially when I was younger. I was a very smart person with no real direction in life so instead of making smart decisions, I made a lot of dumb ones! I had a best buddy after I graduated high school, a musician friend, and we would jam out to our favorite tunes while speeding down the highway, we would busk downtown to try and make a couple bucks, we would hit on chicks together and do all the stupid stuff a couple of rocknroll heads love to do.

He was a guitarist who could shred with the best of em and I would join in on harmonies to fill some space while we played songs for coins in front of The Spaghetti Works. One of our favorite past times, one of the stupider ones, was taking our favorite songs, timing them just right, and jumping our car off this hill in the town we lived in.

We lived in a small town called Bellevue and in this town was a pretty good sized cemetery, lining the cemetery was a road leading to a church not too far off. The road split, one lane took you to the cemetery, the other took you down a steep hill with multiple ramp points where you could get some serious air if you were a filthy rock and roll motorhead, or if you were just a dumb teenager.

My buddy and I would sit at the top of the hill in the middle of the night, at a stop sign that sat right at the entrance of the cemetery. In the car we would find the right track, sometimes it was Boston, The Stones, Metallica, anything that would give us an explosive bit of action, some kind of guitar solo that ripped so hard we would feel it as we gunned it over the hill!

I remember one night we chose Lita Ford and of course it was that classic hit, Kiss Me Deadly!! Oh man, we waited til just the right moment before putting pedal to the metal and flying over the hilltop, the lyrics Lita Ford was belting out would echo out into the cemetery and I swear, as we hung there, car barreling through the air preparing to hit the pavement on the hill, I could see skeletons hands reaching out of the ground and making the devil horns. Just like Ronnie James Dio would have wanted.

When we finally hit the ground and came down from our little episode, and the car made some awful noise as it slammed into the bottom of the hill, we would squeal away from the scene and make our way home through our small town in the middle of the night, hoping nobody caught us making dumb decisions for fun.

Lita Ford has a special place in my heart because of this and I know I will be getting some tickets to this show as she heads to The Sun City!
