Jeff Bezos' Lucky Cowboy Boots Worn In Space Were Made In El Paso

Jeff Bezos wore his favorite cowboy boots into space last week, and they come from non-other than the boot capital of the world; El Paso, TX.

Our city is multi-faceted, from its border cuisine to an abundance of talent and, of course, the only place on earth to find a pair of sweet custom-made leather boots.

El Paso is known as the boot-making capital of the world, and it’s the only place where you can purchase a bonafide pair of boots from any one of the dozen bootmakers, including Tony Lama, Lucchese Boots, Rocketbuster Handmade Custom Boots, and Caboots.

Custom-made boots are a big deal, and locals are not the only ones who know what beautiful and talented craftsmanship goes into making them. Celebrities, actors, politicians, and just about anyone looking for a good pair of customized boots stops by El Paso to pick up a pair.

Last week, Jeff Bezos was the second billionaire to launch into space. Not only were three-quarters of his Blue Origin aerospace engineering team UTEP graduates, but it also turns out that his favorite lucky boots were custom-made in El Paso as well.

According to KVIA.com, JB Hill Boot Company confirmed that the boots that Bezos wore in space were handmade in El Paso, TX.

It turns out that the boots that Bezos wore during the launch are the same ones that he wore during every one of Blue Origin's test flights and considered them lucky after that.

JB Hill Boot Company now has adopted the unique distinction of being known as the makers of the first pair of cowboy boots worn in space.
