Teenage artists in El Paso have a chance to not only turn ugly into beautiful, their work will be seen all around town.

Dumpsters aren't much to look at really but the city of El Paso wants to change that ... at least for a few of them ... with a cool new contest.

High school students from the El Paso, Socorro and Ysleta school districts can submit ideas which, if chosen, will be painted on a dumpster for all El Paso to see.

How Can Teens Enter The El Paso Dumpster Design Contest?

Artists from any of those schools can submit a design and 3 finalists from each school district will be awarded $500 in art supplies to transfer their idea on to a dumpster.

The proposed artwork should reflect our borderland's unique culture and promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle, according to the city's Environmental Services Department.

After Earth Day, all the painted roll-off dumpsters will be showcased at Citizen Collection Stations across El Paso. - KFOX

The deadline to enter is January 12th at 5pm. Applications and art designs should be emailed to ESDOutreach@elpasotexas.gov. You can download the application and read the guidelines here.
