Six Flags Moving Headquarters Out Of Texas
Things are changing in the amusement park world. Six Flags and Cedar Fair, which owns Schlitterbahn Waterparks, will officially merge on July 1. The merger is valued at $8 billion dollars and the merger will bring some other changes as well.
According to a report out of the Dallas Morning News, the new company will be called Six Flags, but the headquarters of the company will not be located in Texas anymore. Instead of being located in Texas, the company headquarters will be moving to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Though Six Flags Over Texas has been in Arlington since 1961, the company recently moved its headquarters in 2020 to 1000 Ballpark Way, the site of the Texas Rangers’ former stadium, Globe Life Park. Before that, Six Flags’ headquarters were located in Grand Prairie since 2010.
The new amusement park company is set to take on the biggest competitors in the U.S. including Disney World and Universal Studios. Universal Studios is set to enter the Dallas-Fort Worth market in 2026 with a resort aimed at children.
Will the merger mean lower prices to get in? Don't count on it.
