Here’s How El Paso Looked the Last Time It Snowed
The TV weather guys and gals have been dropping the ‘s’ word a lot this week. No, not that one. “Snow” has been mentioned often in the tracking of a couple of cold fronts into our area.
Although we’ve had to bundle up a few times this winter, we’ve yet to be treated to a snow day.
It's been a while. According to the National Weather Service El Paso, the last measurable snow in El Paso was back in February of 2021; the Valentine's Day storm.
Snow began falling early that Sunday morning after the predicted strong arctic cold front rolled in overnight resulting in a bitterly cold lover's holiday and several inches of snow on the ground by the end of the day.
Valentine's Day Snowpocalypse 2021 packed quite the punch. The airport measured 3 inches with some reports of a more than that across the city.
Snow also blanketed parts of El Paso about three weeks earlier last January 26. A cold front rolled in overnight Monday, January 25, 2021 resulting in a wintry mix and snow-covered scenery the next morning.
