Socorro High School is taking part in a nationwide contest and needs your help to win a $60,000 prize.

The Lower Valley school is trying to win the annual Follett Challenge, a competition created and hosted by the educational resources provider to find and reward schools who are applying “innovative ways to teach skills needed in the 21st-century.”

As part of the competition, students create a short video about what makes the program at Socorro HS unique. They decided to highlight the district's DNA 1:1 Laptop Initiative, which provides incoming 9th grade students at Socorro, Pebble Hills, El Dorado, and Americas High Schools a laptop computer.

With your vote, the SISD school could be one of 13 rewarded for its effort -- a potential grand prize of $60,000 in Follett products and services. You can vote once a day through this Friday, January 27.
