Good News – You Don’t Need An Appointment For A COVID Test At These Sites
Earlier this week the Texas Military Department Mobile Testing Team announced that they were no longer going to be doing free, no-appointment COVID-19 testing. That's the bad news. The good news is that they will be transitioning their testing sites to a new contractor who will be taking over the testing sites until through July 31. They are going to be doing the testing at five testing sites, including a number of rural sites, within the County.
Each of the sites will be able to test 500 people each day for COVID-19 which is double the number that the sites were previously able to handle. The only issue is that they are on a first-come, first-served basis so you won't have to have an appointment but you will have to wait in a line and might not be able to be tested if the site you are at reaches capacity before they get to you.
The sites are drive-thru but there is a walk-up, drive-thru hybrid site in northeast El Paso at the Nations Tobin Recreation Center located at 8831 Railroad Dr. You can get directions to that location by clicking here.
