Earlier this week the Texas Military Department Mobile Testing Team announced that they were no longer going to be doing free, no-appointment COVID-19 testing. That's the bad news. The good news is that they will be transitioning their testing sites to a new contractor who will be taking over the testing sites until through July 31. They are going to be doing the testing at five testing sites, including a number of rural sites, within the County.

Each of the sites will be able to test 500 people each day for COVID-19 which is double the number that the sites were previously able to handle. The only issue is that they are on a first-come, first-served basis so you won't have to have an appointment but you will have to wait in a line and might not be able to be tested if the site you are at reaches capacity before they get to you.

The sites are drive-thru but there is a walk-up, drive-thru hybrid site in northeast El Paso at the Nations Tobin Recreation Center located at 8831 Railroad Dr. You can get directions to that location by clicking here.

You can get the COVID-19 test at the locations below for free, and you can go with or without COVID-19 symptoms:

Nations Tobin Recreation Center - 8831 Railroad Dr.; July 14-18, July 20-25 and July 27-31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Marty Robbins Recreation Center - 11620 Vista Del Sol; July 14-31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Memorial Swimming Pool - 3251 Copper Ave.; July 14-July 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Haskins Recreation Center - 7400 High Ridge; July 14-31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pavo Real Senior Center - 9301 Alameda; Most dates between July 15-31, with the exception of July 21 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ysleta del Sur Pueblo - 11200 Santos Sanchez St., Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo; July 22 and July 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Horizon First Baptist Church - 17018 Darrington Road, Horizon City; July 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

El Paso County ESD #2 District Office - 16001 Socorro Rd., Fabens; July 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
