The troops will be touching down at Biggs Army Air Field this afternoon around 4:30.

The 1-36th "Spartans" deployed last December, and joined a combined military coalition of more than 62 nations.  They performed several different missions designed to respond to crises and defeat hostile extremists.

Sadly, our soldiers are still in harm's way - six soldiers from this battalion were killed in action during this deployment.

The 1-36th Infantry also worked with the Afghan government through mentoring and training.  Part of the job of the U.S. Forces in Afghanistan is the responsible transfer of security to the Afghan National Security Forces.

There are similarly-sized units from the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat, 1st Armored Division, who will be coming home between now and the redeployment of the Brigade’s main body in the late summer / early fall time frame.

Over 2,000 soldiers from 1st Brigade are still deployed in Afghanistan.

Please pray for all of our troops, and welcome home to the 1-36th Spartans!  Thank you so much for your service, and sacrifice, to our Country.  You are our heroes!
