Fans are roasting and ridiculing celebrity chefs Rachel Ray and Ina Garten for their disastrous Pozole recipes.

Pozole is a traditional Mexican soup that is made from hominy, pork or chicken, red or green chile, and garnished with shredded cabbage, radishes, and few other ingredients.

The problem with Rachel Ray and Ina Garten’s Pozole recipes is the addition of uncommon ingredients such as honey and black beans. I'm sorry, but no one in El Paso would ever add such ingredients to Pozole.

Needless to say, the two recipes were described as atrocities by the fans, saying, "Abuelitas were turning in their graves," after ruining a beloved Mexican dish.

  • Pimento or smoked paprika
  • Beer
  • Fire-roasted tomatoes
  • Honey or agave
  • Topped with Fritos or flour or corn tortilla strips, pickled sliced jalapeño peppers, and crumbled Cotija cheese.

Yikes, Rachel Ray, what are you doing?

If that wasn’t bad enough Ina Garten’s Pork Posole includes:

  • Bell peppers
  • Chili powder
  • Black beans
  • Yellow corn tortilla chips
  • Scallions
  • Grated Cheddar cheese

It’s apparent that these two recipes are not authentic pozole dishes and more like an amalgamation of chili, stew, or tortilla soup, anything but Pozole.

Even though I'm a fan of Ina Garten and her cool cocktail party spreads, I have to agree with the fans on this one - Both recipes are just wrong.
