EPPD Police Beg Drivers to Pay Attention When Driving in School Zones
On October 9th, Wednesday morning, two children on their way to school were struck by a vehicle outside Oran Roberts Elementary. The children are reported to be 14-year-old and a 6-year-old. The 6-year-old has died from her injuries. The El Paso Police Department have shared details of how the tragic incident happened.
What really caught my attention in this video featuring the officer sharing details, is the sorrow you can hear in his voice. That sorrow seems to merge into a slight desperation when he asks El Paso drivers to pay attention when they are driving. He also talks about when his children went to school and he was always worried about them walking to school.
In school zones, we need people to pay attention. Plain and simple, please El Pasoans pay attention. Do not be on your phones, do not speed and follow the basic rules of driving. We need to keep our children safe in every way possible.
