El Paso's Rep. Beto O'Rourke has a few words to say about NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem. He said, "I can think of nothing more American than to peacefully stand up, or take a knee, for your rights, anytime, anywhere, in any place."

Ted Cruz, the current senator from Texas and the man Beto is running against, was, understandably, not a fan of what Beto had to say. He said he could think of a lot things that are more American than kneeling during the National Anthem. Unfortunately, he, and quite a lot of people, think it is disrespectful to our troops. Whether you agree or disagree with the players, you should know what they are protesting against. Cruz either doesn't know or doesn't care that NFL players are kneeling in protest of police violence against African Americans.

Beto's stance on NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem has caught the eye of a lot of celebrities. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted that she wants to meet Beto:

Ted Cruz blasted Kevin Bacon and other "Hollywood Liberals" for siding with Beto. Kevin Bacon thanked Cruz for retweeting his tweet in support of Beto:

The Texas Tribune wondered how Beto's NFL players stance would play with Texas voters:

Even LeBron James got on the Beto bus when he called his speech a must watch:
