The El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank has changed food pick-up procedures at its main location at 9541 Plaza Circle. Effective now, those who receive food assistance at that specific location will now be required to park their vehicles and stand in line for a food ticket, which can then be redeemed for a food-filled shopping cart.

The change to its distribution model was made to help alleviate long wait times and ensure the safety of volunteers and staff while also protecting them from the El Paso heat, according to a food bank press release. Individuals must now load their own vehicles as well.

Summer hours have also been altered at EPFH headquarters on Plaza Circle. That location is now distributing food 3 hours earlier, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Also now in effect, everyone receiving food at any food distribution sites and mobile pantries must wear a face mask, and, if loading their own groceries, vinyl gloves.

Other Primary Distribution Sites and Mobile Pantries

The changes noted above -- other than the face mask and gloves requirements -- only pertain to the main food bank location. The El Paso County Coliseum remains drive-thru and volunteers will load cars. Other locations are also still drive through, however, people need to load their own cars.
