Mayor Margo Says El Paso Will Require Essential Business Employees Wear Masks
Mayor Dee Margo and County Judge Ricardo Samaniego will make wearing face masks mandatory for employees of essential businesses.
In an interview with a local news station on Monday, Mayor Margo reiterated what he first told Mike & Tricia Mornings (93.1 KISS-FM) this past Friday, the Stay Home/Work Safe order will be updated this week to add a county-wide requirement that employees of essential businesses must wear a mask or face covering when performing job duties in the presence of others.
In the radio interview with Mike and Tricia, Margo said amending the directive to require the entire community to do so, such as the one recently enacted by the City of Socorro, was "a possibility," but we’re told it won't happen after all, and will instead remain just strongly suggested.
Speaking to another news station Monday, Margo said it was determined such a mandate would be too hard to enforce with the limited manpower and resources the city and county have right now.
