El Paso Unveils Alternate ‘Margaritas’ Logo for Copa de la Diversión
"Copa de la Diversión," or "Fun Cup," has emerged in Minor League Baseball as one of the most exciting season-long series that celebrates the Hispanic/Latino communities around baseball.
Among the new ones came the El Paso Chihuahuas "Margaritas," which will be sported by the club on the five separate "Copa Nights." These Copa Nights will be scattered within the season, with the first one being on Cinco de Mayo against Salt Lake.
"Margaritas hold a significant place in city's history, considering the beverage's origins trace back to 1942 in El Paso. But the beverage represents more than a drink: it represents El Paso's welcoming culture, its soul and the good times associated with the city and the team."
Minor League Baseball today unveiled the 397-game schedule for its second annual Copa de la Diversión® (Fun Cup™) event series, taking place during the 2019 season. Following an incredibly successful 2018 campaign when Copa de la Diversión ("Copa")-participating teams authentically connected with their Latinx communities, resulting in dramatic increases in attendance, merchandise sales and commercial partnership revenue, this year's participating teams look to continue that momentum.
Everything about these alternate uniforms is excellent. The Chihuahuas will return to their dog house, as a fresh lime rests inside a mouth-watering margarita, with a nice addition of salt on the rim. Its colors—yellow, royal blue, white and green—compliment each other and make for a totally unique alternate look for El Paso. The online team store is already flooded with El Paso Margarita merch as well.
The Margaritas will join 71 other MiLB organizations who will alternate their uniforms and logos in efforts to build a relationship among the clubs with the diverse communities nationwide.
The first Copa-designed game is set for April 5, with Columbus debuting the second official season of Copa de la Diversión.
