The El Paso Symphony will perform tunes from Queen’s extensive catalog accompanied by a full rock band and guest conductor Brent Havens.

"Innovative chord progressions, wonderful melodies and the astounding vocals of Freddie Mercury make the music a perfect choice to orchestrate," Havens said about the iconic band in a news release announcing the symphony's plan to perform their music for a third time in the last 10 years.

Havens was also the guest conductor this past February when the EPSO expertly tackled the music of Led Zeppelin.

Handling the vocals will be singer and actor MiG Ayesa who has appeared in stage productions of "We Will Rock You," which is based entirely on Queen material, so you know he will do the songs justice.

"The Music of Queen: The Ultimate Celebration" promises a 2-hour set list that includes the band's best-known songs such as We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Killer Queen and many other killer tunes.

All that plus a full rock band and light show.

It sounds like a fun night and a great show. And, hey, it's not every day you get to see El Pasoans wave their lit-up cellphones to We Are the Champions at a symphony concert.
