Monika’s 10 Best Summer Things To Look Forward To In El Paso
These are the ten best summer things that Monika looks forward to as the weather starts to warm up in El Paso.
I think we can all agree that El Paso’s weather is unbeatable, yes it may be sweltering hot most days, but once summer rolls around, everything feels so much more active and alive.
So as we get ready to lather up on sunscreen, crank up the tunes while making a carne asada on the grill with friends and family, let me share the ten best things I love about summer in El Paso.
1) Outdoor Movies
From Movies on the Lawn at UTEP to the Plaza Classic Film Festival downtown, outdoor movies under a starry sky make for memorable summer nights.
2) The Song of the Summer
No matter what - there's always that one song that defines the summer making it the season's unofficial anthem.
3) Outdoor Concerts
One of my favorite summer pastimes has got to be enjoying live music at outdoor concerts. As Cool Canyon Nights returns this month, I look forward to getting back into the groove of things every Thursday at McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre.
4) Chilling at Home
Whether chilling on your front porch, backyard or if you're lucky enough to have a pool, nothing beats a lazy summer afternoon.
5) Major Music Festivals
Apart from local outdoor music fests, my other favorite thing to do every summer is to attend a major music festival in another city, reveling in the vibe of the music and atmosphere of the town.
6) Road Trips
Whether visiting friends, family or crossing off your next concert from your bucket list - Summer is the perfect time for a road trip filled with new memories in the making.
7) Smell Of Sunscreen
There is only one summer scent that I adore, and that's the smell of coconut sunscreen - it makes me feel like I'm heading to the beach even though we are thousands of miles away from one.
8) Evening Walks
Summers are pretty brutal in El Paso, but evenings make for the perfect time to take a walk on a cool summer night.
Wet n Wild Waterworld screams summer in El Paso, and now, with four new water parks opening in town, we'll have more options to cool off this summer.
10) Cool, Refreshing Drinks
Summers can be intense in the Sun City. But once the season starts and the sunshine hangs out into the late evening, there's nothing more that I look forward to than hanging out with my family and friends no matter where we are. Pair that up with a nice cold Michelob Ultra Puro Oro, and it makes for a perfect golden summer filled with new possibilities and memorable moments.
