With virtually the entire country closed down due to stay-at-home orders because of the coronavirus outbreak, you would think that crime would have taken a dive as well, but you would be wrong. The guy who is accused of this especially heinous crime is a real dirtbag. Allegedly.

El Paso Police say that 57 year old Eduardo Salas, a warehouse employee at Del Sol Medical Center on the city's eastside, was caught putting boxes of N-95 masks into the trunk of his car on Saturday, April 4 around 10:30 in the morning. Salas was seen allegedly putting the boxes of the masks into his vehicle by an EPPD officer who was working extra-duty at the Del Sol Hospital. Salas is a warehouse manager at Del Sol.

The officer asked if Salas was supposed to be putting those masks into his vehicle and was told that Salas did not have consent to take the masks. Salas was placed under arrest and charged with theft for the two boxes. The boxes contained 100 N-95 masks.

The masks are the ones that every hospital in the country has been trying to get but they are in short supply. I mean really, dude? People are sick, people are dying, our healthcare workers are trying to keep us safe and they need those masks. What the hell were you thinking? Allegedly.

Thank goodness that the officer was in the right place at the right time.
