The Plaza Classic Film Festival’s Plaza Outdoor series returns this weekend for the first of two weekends, and it would not be complete without the annual open-air showing of the granddaddy of interactive movies: The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The good doctor and the rest of the ghoulish crew return to the Plaza Classic Film Festival for the 13th straight year, and will, in fact, kick-off the Plaza Outdoor series this Friday, July 30.

The musical salute to sci-fi, horror, B-movies, and rock music stars Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick, Susan Sarandon and singer Meat Loaf.

You don' t have to be a Sweet transvestite from Transexual Transylvania to do The Time Warp, but you're more than welcome to dress as one. As is customary at any screening of the cult classic, costumes and loud singing isn't just welcomed, it's encouraged.

After a challenging 2020 that forced the Plaza Classic Film Festival to take the show on the road in the form of pop-up drive-in movie nights, this year’s festival will see a near return to normalcy. That means a concert by a local indie band will once again precede the movie.

What to Know Before You Go

This year's annual screenings will be just down the street from the Plaza Theatre at the Convention Center Plaza (home of Alfresco Fridays).

The flicks will all start at 9 p.m. with the local musical flavor getting underway at 7:30 p.m. Both the movies and the concerts are free to see. Because the coronavirus is down but not out, mask-wearing and social distancing when possible are strongly encouraged.
